Here's a comment from an anonymous vegan visitor:
"C'mon, I can see from this that you are most likely thinking or even going vego yourself. Just admit it. To yourself. To others. Thanks anyway for giving folks the opportunity to challenge their own, probably biased views of all those prejudiced statements mentioned in your survey. Thanks again.   -- one more happy, healthy vegan in Germany"

Here's a comment from another anonymous vegan visitor:
"I wanted to take your survey, but it is so biased and/or poorly administered. Check your Likert scales; you should have at least 5 options. Also, there are not enough options, or rather, your options are kind of ridiculous sometimes in your close questions. I mean, you should at least include options such as "I don't feel either better or worse than non-vegans" or "I went vegan for ethical reasons/because animals deserve rights". I don't know what to do with the fact that those aren't available. It's insane.

In case you're wondering, I'm genetically egotistical, nothing to do with being vegan, haha. But I'm right anyway.      Best"

1.  Are you a vegan...  and if you are, for about how long?

Do you also abstain from using fur and leather?

Yes
No
For about how long?

I abstain from
using products derived from animals including fur & leather.

2.  At least one friend or family member is a vegan. Agree
Disagree

3.  Not eating broadly-balanced meals can have consequences. As a consequence of being a vegan, I often feel: Tired
Weak
Sickly
Irritable
I feel better than carnivorous people.

4.  Vitamin B12 has been shown to reduce depression and unhappiness. Vitamin B12 is found in animal meat & organs such as beef liver. The lack of vitamin B12 in vegan diets may exlain why so many vegans are angry and displeased with life. Agree
Disagree

5.  Most higher-order vertebrates, excluding some monkey species, are carnivorous -- that is, they are natural meat eaters. I knew that
I didn't know that.

6.  If a living organism is deprived of a food which it naturally needs to function well, it will likely become irritable over time. Agree
Disagree

"Your survey has an extreme bias and has failed to examine, correctly, ANY aspect of the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. For one, there are many more reasons for becoming vegan; please do your research before embarassing [sic] yourself as an ignorant fool again."

Please evaluate your answer to the following question in light of this person's lecture.

Question:  Do you think perhaps a reason that some people appear to be irritable and nasty these days is that they are deprived of something they naturally crave... such as fatty foods, meats, or breads?

Yes
No
Well, I hate to admit it, but that does make some sense.

8.  The reasons that I am a vegan include:
Eating animals is disgusting.
Being a vegan allows me to stay slim.
Meat products are unhealthy.
It is really, really cool.
Being a vegan gives me more energy.

9.  Regarding depression:

At least half of all depressed people recover their generally rational and good mood after nothing more than a some time, living a productive life and focusing away from themselves toward their work. Depression is a condition that often vanishes on its own without drugs, therapy, or herbal remedies.

Many people, especially vegans, suffer a depression and other mood-related symptoms when not getting enough of the vitamin B12 found in meats.

Just the smell of a steak on a grill is enough to lift some people's mood.

Agree
Disagree
I'll try this remedy.

10.  People admire me because I am a vegan. Agree
Disagree
I have not noticed either way.

11.  Professional football, basketball, and baseball players would not develop as muscular and strong if they were vegetarians. Agree
Disagree

12. Often when people are suffering from a serious illness, one of the first signs that they have entered a recovery phase is when they regain their appetite and ask for food. This implies that satisfying the body's natural desire to eat a variety of good-tasting foods is healthy. That makes sense.
I disagree with that statement.

13. I have friends who eat all kinds of foods, including meat, chicken and fish, and are happier than my vegan friends. Agree
Disagree
Like, ya, I didn't realize that.

14. I am a vegetarian because: I don't want the enjoyment of eating good foods.
I'm not worthy of enjoying good foods.
I don't want to kill animals just to eat.
My self-esteem is very low.
I'm making a political statement.

15. People who deny themselves all the foods they want make themselves frustrated and unhappy. Of course this is true.
I disagree with this statement.

16.  I enjoy the extra attention that I receive because I am a vegan. Of course I enjoy the extra attention.
No, I do not.
No. In fact I am secretive about being a vegan.
I do, but I won't admit it.
